. glad you are with us on this thursday morning. we say good morning to mr. tony perkins as well. >> hello there. a very nice start to the day. >> temperatures are in the 60s across most of the area and we've got clear skies. it will be a pretty day today too. not bad at all. >> let's take a look. we'll start with what is going on out there by showing out satellite-radar. no precipitation, nothing like that. the skies are mostly clear. we had the frontal system come through yesterday and then the cool air began to settle in last night. that is what we've got this morning. current temperatures around the region look like this. right now, in washington, it is 66 degrees. 66 here. 64 in annapolis. manassas, 61 degrees and there are some 50s out there. baltimore, 58. dulles airport is at 57 degrees. your day planner for today, lots of sunshine. very comfortable, a little bit breezy. >> a fall-like day. we're looking for high temperatures today in the upper 70s after a high in the mid-90s yesterday. more details on all of that coming up shortly. >> thank you. >>> let's check in with j

and a look at the week ahead coming up in just a little bit. stick with us for that. >> let's check in with julie wright. she has the latest on the traffic situation out there. >> good morning to you all. we are talking about loudoun county. before a serious crash that popped up on us along route 9 out at hamilton station road. we are told that the highway is blocked off in each direction. that is route 9 at hamilton station road currently closed because of an accident. for those that are traveling along northbound i-95 here in lorton, nice, easy commute continuing up towards the beltway. no problems to report on the beltway leading annandale to merrifield and you will fine that traveling at the wilson bridge, all lanes are open and traffic is running smoothly there. top side of beltway, the outer loop as you work your way around from 650 new hampshire avenue and continue to silver spring, light traffic volume there as well. you will find lanes are open coming southbound as you travel from 109 out towards the split. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >>> it appears the ea

with us. fox 5 morning news will be right back. n thkeac >>> welcome back. it will be a beautiful day for people to get outside no matter what you are going to do. >> no excuses as far as the weather goes. get outside and vote if have you the opportunity and it is your obligation to do that. what we've got across the region is plenty of sunshine. it will be a little bit breezy later on. right now, the wind are relatively calm. we've got changes in the temperatures at this hour. it is a comfortable morning, a little bit humid. 66degrees right now in washington. 6 # out in annapolis. 63 out in annapolis. most of us in the 60s. 61 at dulles airport. satellite-radar, i want to show you this to you for a couple of reasons. number one, we've got mostly clear skies but clouds are grinning to stream in. not a whole lot in the way of cloud cover. there is a frontal system that will be making its way through here during the course of the day today. you will feel the winds pick up and see the clouds come through. after that, we'll see clearer skies. t

is happening with earl. i'm gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm steve chenevey. thank you for being with us this thursday morning. let's say good morning to tucker barnes and get a look at that forecast. >> just getting latest information here as we speak. believe it or not, earl is getting stronger by the hour. i don't think it is likely to get much more intense. it's very strong hurricane. let's get right to it. i want to he show you vipir. i want to show you the satellite-radar there. you go. can you see that the storm has an enormous eye here. wave got hurricane-force winds about 90 miles from the center. tropical storm wind about 230 miles from the center. just getting the latest information, maximum winds now 145 miles per hour, gusts over 1 # 06789 the pressure has been falling the last couple of hours. so not losing any strength here as it approaches coastline. hurricane warnings now for much of north carolina and even here along the lower eastern shore, we've now got tropical storm warnings and hurricane watches. we are getting ready for it as it pushes offer to the north and then to the north a

's andrea issom. stay with us. your weather, traffic and all your top stories as fox 5 morning news continues right now. >>> good morning. i'm gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm steve chenevey. we'll bring in mr. tony perkins with a look at the forecast. good morning to you. >> i thought we were on that cruise ship for a moment. we do have changes coming. today will be a day of transition. it will be another warm day but you will feel things changing as the atmosphere gets mixed up. we get breezy conditions through here later on. that will set the stage for cooler temperatures later on at the end of the week. right now, we have a temperature of 76 degrees at reagan national. 73 at dulles. 76 at bwi marshall. these tells warmer than it was yesterday at this time -- these temperatures warmer than it was yesterday at this time. take a look. not a bad start to the day. we do have a few more clouds out there than we had yesterday certainly as a frontal boundary begins to pass through here. as it does, i would not rule out a shower or sprinkle popping up here or there. there is some indication on rad

. i'm sarah simmons in for gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm steve chenevey. glad you're with us. welcome to fox 5 morning news on this thursday morning. let's get a look at that forecast for today. tucker barnes joins us with hopefully more good news. >> okay news. we've got more clouds than yesterday. not going to be picture perfect like it was. a little warmer than yesterday. a little more humid as well. we are going to have a gorgeous weekend with more details on that coming up. we'll talk about current conditions and we are in the 60s generally across the area here in town. humidity, 57%. wind are out of the east at six miles per hour. pressure is falling just a little bit. i mentioned cloud cover. can you see it streaming in here from the west. what this is is a warm front. it will be noticeably more humid. still not bad by summer standards but after the perfect weather we had around here the last couple of days, more clouds in the forecast. the rain should hold off until the nighttime hours particularly overnight into tomorrow morning. at lea

a bit. the waves are starting to pick up. sherry ly is in ocean city for us. we'll check in with her a little bit later on. i'm gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm sarah simmons in for steve chenevey. he will be along a little bit later on today. we want to check in with tucker. we saw hurricane earl kicking up the as out there. >> the latest advisories still 105 miles per hour. gusts to about 115. looks like it will remain intact for the next several hours. shall we take a look at it. >> let's do it. >> let's look at the hillary clinton as it is making its presence felt. the good news is the eye of the storm looks to stay just off the coast here. it is now about 85 miles east of cape hatteras, north carolina. there you go. can you see it lifting off to the north-northeast at about 18 miles per hour. it is actually racing off to the north. cloud cover across the washington area. this radar is overdoing the rain here in d.c. but we do have some bands of rain across the lower eastern shore. you know, i wouldn't say it is impossible that some of our southern and eastern viewers won't see some rain
